The Democrats of Greater Tucson Board voted on March 14, 2022, to update the Bylaws, primarily to establish a procedure for online elections. Additional minor changes were also made. The Board hereby asks paid-up members of Democrats of Greater Tucson to approve these changes.

ARTICLE V – OFFICERS, ELECTIONS, AND DUTIES A. Elected officers include President, First Vice-President, Second Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and six members-at-large. Officers shall hold offices for one year or until their successors are elected. Officers must be registered Democrats. B. IN-PERSON ELECTIONS: During the first Monday meeting in December, nominations shall be made from the floor. Nominations may also be made from the floor at the Annual Meeting (Second Monday in December). Members may nominate themselves. Write-ins may be made on the ballot. The President shall appoint, with the approval of the Executive Board, three (3) runners who shall distribute, collect, and count the ballots; results reported to the President. Quorum must be met of eligible members (paid and present) on day of the election and only then an affirmative vote of a majority of those eligible members shall be the election result. C. ON-LINE ELECTIONS: The first Saturday in December at 5pm is the cutoff date for Board/Officers nominations. The Second Vice-President shall email eligible members with the list of nominees, informing them that members may nominate themselves and confirming that only eligible members present at the Annual Meeting be permitted to vote. The DGT President shall appoint, with the approval of the Board, a neutral Director of the election. A quorum of eligible attendees will be confirmed by a DGT Officer and then entered into the Board approved, current election software D. If there are no challengers, the Election Director will declare the nominees elected by acclamation. The new Officers/Board shall assume their positions at the Board Meeting immediately following adjournment of Elections/Annual Meeting. |

Appointed officers may include Sergeant-At-Arms and Parliamentarian, neither of whom shall be an Executive Board member. The President, in consultation with the Executive Board, shall make these appointments along with that of Historian. C. Officers shall be elected at the Annual Meeting which shall be the first meeting in December unless that date is changed by the Executive Board because of special circumstances. The new officers shall assume their positions immediately following adjournment of the Annual Meeting. D. At a meeting preceding the Annual Meeting (date to be determined by the Executive Board) nominations shall be made from the floor. Nominations may also be made from the floor at the Annual Meeting. A member may nominate himself/herself. Write-ins may be made on the ballot. |
