Celebrations are erupting around the US following Joe Biden’s victory.

Congratulations President-Elect Joe Biden. Congratulations to the first woman and African/Indian American Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris.

Donald Trump, You’re Fired. Trump’s presidential tweets will come to an end. Trump’s encouragement of right-wing militias will end. Trump’s hysterical lies will continue, but they won’t matter anymore.

Biden will use his presidential powers to end the pandemic. Biden will cancel Trump’s executive orders, and restore protections for clean air and water, and for endangered species. Biden will restore the authority of the CDC and FDA. Using his powers over federal agencies, Biden will fight climate change. 

On social media, Mr. Biden wrote:

“America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not.I will keep the faith that you have placed in me.”

Vice President-Elect Harris also wrote:

“This election is about so much more than Joe Biden or me. It’s about the soul of America and our willingness to fight for it. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Let’s get started.”
