TheDGT.org Presents “Prop 412 Failed: Now What?” Featuring Councilman Steve Kozachik on May 22nd at Noon

A slight twist on our regular format this week! We are going to discuss the failure of Tucson’s Prop 412 with Councilman Steve Kozachik and activists from Tucson’s environmental community. Our panel discussion will touch on the reasons the Prop failed and what Tucson and TEP might do next time to gain the voters’ approval.

Our panelists include:
Councilman Steve Kozachik – Panelist/Elected Official
Mr. Kozachik is a member of the Tucson City Council in Arizona, representing Ward 6. Kozachik assumed office in 2009. Kozachik’s current term ends on December 1, 2025. Kozachik was a member of the Republican Party during the 2009 election. In 2013, he changed his party affiliation to Democratic. Kozachik explained his party switch by saying, “This party, whether it’s on immigration, women’s reproductive rights or the whole social panoply of issues is just out of touch with this community.”[1]
Ojas Sanghi – Panelist
Mr. Sanghi is a student at the UA and a member of the AZ Youth Climate Coalition and UArizona Divest. He has been working on climate issues for about a year, and was also recently appointed to the City Commission on Climate, Energy, and Sustainability.
Michael Bryan – Moderator and Panelist
Mr. Bryan is the program director for TheDGT.org and publisher and editor of BlogForArizona.net. He opposed the passage of Prop 412 as detailed at www.NoOn412.com.
Tanish Doshi – Panelist
Tanish Doshi is a sophomore in high school at BASIS Oro Valley in Oro Valley, AZ. He is the Statewide Outreach Director of the Arizona Youth Climate Coalition and has previously interned at the Pima County Attorney’s Office and the Pima County Board of Supervisors. He is passionate about environmental justice and law.
