Lauren Kuby is a nationally recognized champion for affordable, clean energy. Now, she’s running to be your advocate on the Arizona Corporation Commission.

Lauren was elected to the Tempe City Council on a sustainability platform in 2014. In her two terms, she has been recognized as a national champion for climate solutions and cities as incubators of innovation. Lauren has led Tempe’s efforts for social, economic, and environmental justice, including initiatives related to equal pay, earned sick days, clean energy, climate action plans, affordable housing, animal welfare, urban forestry, transparency, and campaign finance reform.
Kuby spearheaded a dark money disclosure amendment to the City’s charter, garnering 91% support from voters.

The Corporation Commission’s job determining what kind of fuel power plants use (like dirty fossil fuels or clean energy options like solar power). The Commission’s job is to make sure utility monopolies don’t abuse their position of power.

Unfortunately, that’s not what’s happening.

Corporate special interests have set up shop in the very offices meant to regulate them, and they’ve rigged the rules in their favor.

In recent years, the big utilities and corporate special interests have handpicked many of the commissioners who are sworn to keep them in check. These commissioners turn a blind eye to price hikes, negligent service, and environmentally dangerous practices.

While champions like Commissioner Sandra Kennedy have been fighting hard to stamp out the corruption on the Corporation Commission and to advocate for Arizonans, they can’t do it alone.  Electing Lauren (and re-electing Sandra Kennedy!) will mean winning an anti-corruption majority on the Corporation Commission.

Arizona deserves commissioners who will work for them, not special interests.

Arizona voters will elect two members of the commission on November 8, 2022.
