Councilwoman Nikki Lee is an Air Force veteran, IT project manager, wife, and mother of three. As a City Council Member, Nikki advocates for economic development, job growth, and environmental sustainability. Lee’s experience being stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and finding a job that fit her tech and entrepreneurial background after she left the Air Force gives her insight needed on the City Council. “I am one of those people who struggled to find work, but didn’t want to move,” she told the Star’s Editorial Board.
Raised in a small town in rural Illinois, Nikki grew up in a working-class family. Her father is a miner and a preacher and her mother spent years owning and operating a small business.
She assumed office on December 2, 2019. Her current term ends on December 4, 2023. Ward 4 runs from 22nd Street south to Interstate 10
Nikki has now worked in the cybersecurity and technology sector for 20 years and is a STEM professional in the aerospace and defense industry.
Nikki previously worked as an organizer for Save Our Schools Arizona, to keep public dollars in public schools, before running unsuccessfully for State Representative in Legislative District 10.
