Larry Bodine is the President of Democrats of Greater Tucson, and a PC in Legislative District 9. A journalist and attorney, Larry Bodine attends live political events and reports on them for the Blog for Arizona, which features politics from a liberal viewpoint. See http://blogforarizona.net/ He has been an elected Democratic precinct committeeman in Illinois and Arizona, starting with the 2006 Tammy Duckworth campaign (she is now a US Senator). As an elected Democratic precinct committeeman in LD9 in Tucson, he works to get Democrats elected. Since 2017 he has taught “Getting Active in Local Politics” at OLLI-UA (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) at the University of Arizona in Tucson. His 45-year career includes reporting for the New York Daily News, which was the largest-circulation US newspaper at the time. He has won 7 awards for investigative journalism.

Speakers at Redistricting Commission Reject Republican Voting District 17

The testimony of 50 voters rejected the gerrymandered voting District 17 that created a safe Republican district in a predominantly Democratic County. They spoke during a six-hour Virtual Town Hall held by the Independent Redistricting Commission on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021. We have 30 days to decide Arizona's voting maps for the next ten years. Last Thursday, the AZ Independent Redistricting Commission (IRC) reviewed, haggled, tweaked, and finally accepted draft maps for Legislative and Congressional districts. Low-income voters cast nearly 44% of all Arizona votes in 2020

Low-income Arizonans cast 1.4 million votes in the 2020 general election, representing nearly 44% of the 3.4 million votes statewide. Low-income White voters accounted for 29% of the Arizona vote.Low-income Hispanic and Black voters accounted for 8.1% and 0.4%, respectively. Low-income voters accounted for 35% of the 168 million votes cast nationwide in the 2020 presidential election, and in Arizona that percentage was 44, according to a recent study by the Poor People’s Campaign. Kirsten Engel Leads Fundraising in Race for Tucson’s Congressperson

Former Arizona LD10 State Senator Kirsten Engel’s team has raised $265,000 for the third quarter. So far, her campaign has received more than $600,000 in campaign donations. 87% of the donations came from Arizonans.85% percent came from small donations of $100.00 or less. Go Solar Together with Tucson Solar Co-Op Launch

Nonprofit group Solar United Neighbors (SUN) announced today the launch of the 2nd Annual Tucson Solar Co-op to help Tucson area residents go solar.
