Democrats of Greater Tucson holds Arizona’s ONLY WEEKLY forum for Democrats.
Mondays at Noon
We host an online event via Zoom every Monday at Noon with one or more Featured Speakers (most often Democratic candidates and office-holders) addressing subjects of political and/or community interest.
Evening Salons
We also have begun doing events in the evenings on an ad hoc basis to accommodate different schedules, and to have longer events for Panel Discussions among experts and groups of office-holders and/or candidates.
Happy HourS
Meet in person with fellow DGT Members and Featured Guests (most often candidates and office-holders)
Happy Hours are generally on Wednesdays from 4 to 6pm at local venues. Please see our Calendar for specific details of upcoming Happy Hour Mingling Liberally events.

The History of DGT
The Democrats of Greater Tucson celebrated its 47th year in 2026. Before 1979 DGT was known as the Young Democrats of Greater Tucson, but as some of our past members began to mature they thought a name change was appropriate. We achieved this longevity through the dedication of many volunteers to our maxim that all Democrats get to speak. As long as one is a “Member of the Democratic Party,” one could get on the speaker’s list. As a result, DGT attendees have heard from Democrats across the wide spectrum of the party and our communities, leaving all who participate richer as the result.

Mike Bryan
President
Mike is a retired prosecuting attorney who has published the Blog for Arizona for 20 years. He is an elected PC and SCM in LD20, a former candidate for state legislature, and a former 1st Vice Chair in LD20. Formerly our 1st Vice-President for Programs for two terms.

Adam Sarvana
1st Vice President for Programs
Public communications professional. Former Communications Director for Mayor Romero. Adam worked on Capitol Hill in Rep. Grijalva’s personal office from 2009 to 2014 and for him at the Natural Resources Committee from 2015 to 2022. Adam was a Biden appointee at HHS from 2022 to 2025. Co-founder of HHS Impacts Group to document the consequences of the Trump administration’s budget cuts.
Sherry Goncharsky
2nd Vice President for Membership
Sherry is an elected PC in LD18. Sherry is a tech host for the University of Arizona’s OLLI program. She has more than 30 years’ experience in software and computer systems with IBM.

Larry Bodine
Board Secretary
Larry Bodine, a journalist, attorney and marketer, was President of DGT from 2019 to 2022. He is the Past Chair of the LD18 Democrats. He has been a Democratic Precinct Committeeman in Tucson and Illinois for 20 years. He has been an author since 2017 for the liberal Blog for Arizona, where he has written 700 articles.

Financial analyst for the Arizona Dept of Economic Security. Active in voter outreach and as an advisor on candidates for public office. Currently the Recording Secretary of LD18 Democrats. Former Field Representative, Progressive Turnout Project, and Campaign Intern, Arizona AFL-CIO
Susie Anderson
At Large
Susie is the previous 2d Vice President for Membership of DGT, and grew our membership to more than 200 people, making DGT the largest Democratic club/PAC in Pima County. She is an elected PC in LD20.
Maria Parsons
At Large
Maria is starting her third term. In 2024 she worked as Regional Organizing Director at the Arizona Democratic Party. Maria is a former Corresponding Secretary for the Pima County Democratic Party. She is an elected PC in LD19 and writes the weekly newsletter.
Shelly Goode Burgoyne

Digital Strategist. US Army Combat Veteran OIF I and III. So AZ Director for Vets Forward veterans community. Substitute teacher in special ed at Catalina HS. Former Executive Director, Pima County Democratic Party
Rachel Dawkins
At Large
Proprietor of War Paint LLC. Former Campaign Director for the Tucson Police Officers Association. Field Organizer for the Paul Cunningham for Council Campaign. Active in LD17.
Chris Cosico
At Large
Chris is studying politics, business and religion at Catholic University of America-Tucson while also serving as Director of Programs for the Arizona College Democrats. After working as an EMT, Chris became the Regional Organizing Director for the Harris/Walz coordinated campaign in Tucson.
Joseph Daniszewski
Past President
Joe completed his second term as President, which will be two years under the new Bylaws. He is a business consultant who is an elected Precinct Committee Member in LD18. Also active in Rotary, Joe speaks Spanish.
